Cindy Lee Wows Milwaukee, Then Cancels Tour

Indie darling Cindy Lee played a stunning set in Milwaukee, leaving the audience stunned.

The show, part of a sold-out 27-date tour for Lee’s new album Diamond Jubilee, was a masterclass in guitar playing. Fans described the show as “haunting” and “intense,” and Lee’s stage presence, a sort of “down-‘n-out diva” look, only added to the atmosphere.

Sadly, it seems that fans may have witnessed the last-ever Cindy Lee performance. Shortly after the Milwaukee show, the remaining tour dates were canceled for personal reasons.

Freak Heat Waves, the opening act for the tour, announced the cancellation, citing “reasons beyond our control.” Lee, the creative alter-ego of Canadian musician Patrick Flegel, is known for shunning social media and the modern music industry, so the cancellation tracks.

But hey, at least we’ll always have Diamond Jubilee, a 32-track double album Lee self-released on a GeoCities website. Critics are raving about it, with Pitchfork giving it their highest score for a new release in four years. Not bad for an album you can’t even find on Spotify!
